Mounting Plates
Mounting plates shall be sized to suit the dimensions and weight of the installed equipment and shall be made of 2mm thick steel,
pretreated and powder coated finish white.
Gland Plates
Detachable gland plates for termination of conduits and cables shall be provided. Gland plates shall be of aluminium, minimum
thickness of 3mm and for single core cables. Allow spare space for future terminations.
Cable Entries
Provision for top or bottom cable entries shall be included in the design.
Adequate space within each compartment and cable zones shall allow for neat cable routing, cleating, supporting, and
termination.
Removable earthed gland plates (aluminium) shall be provided.
Cable zones shall include provisions for future cabling and suitable fixtures such as cable supports, trays, or slotted PVC cable
ducts for smaller cables.
Earthing
All metallic parts of the switchboard/MCC and associated equipment shall be bonded to the protective earth conductor.
All earthing conductors shall comply with AS/NZS 61439.1 & AS/NZS 3000.
Segregation
Each of the assemblies shall comply with the requirements specified in the schedules and/or drawings of Form of Separation
under the following minimum standards.
Switchboards and MCCs rated at 800 Amps or higher must meet at least Form 3B, or as otherwise specified in this document.
Internal separation methods shall be acceptable for assemblies, provided they adhere to the requirements of AS/NZS 61439.2
Finish
Switchboards shall be finished with a textured epoxy-polyester powder coat in RAL 7032 Grey or RAL 2000 Orange with a minimum
thickness of 60 microns.
Corrosion resistance shall comply with AS/NZS 61439.1:2016, clause 10.2.2.2.
The powder coating process shall include degreasing, iron phosphating, rinsing, passivation, drying, electrostatic powder coating,
and tempering.
Maintenance of paintwork shall follow the manufacturer’s documented recommendations.
Requirement: Cubicles shall be painted internally and externally
Internal Colour: White
External Colour: RAL 7032 Grey
RAL 2000 Orange
Other colours by request
Type-Epoxy polyester powder coat, semi-gloss, smooth finish, ≥ 60μm thick
Busbars
Busbar assemblies shall meet the ratings indicated on the Single Line Diagram and Busbar support arrangements shall be
independent of switchgear.
Busbars shall be of rectangular cross section with a radius edge and be of 2 or more bars per phase arrangement for both the
main and vertical bars. The main busbar rating shall be the same throughout the entire length of the switchboard. The busbar
system shall be design verified for a fault level of (specify fault level) xxx kA for 1s. The allowed temperature rise of the design
verified busbar system should be in accordance with AS/NZS 61439.1:2016
The connections including the conductors and tap-off connectors from the vertical busbars to the functional unit protective
devices shall have been part of a conditional short circuit withstand test and shall not be less than a prospective fault level of the
busbar system.
